Established 30 years ago as a stopover for touring professionals, the Potomac Tennis Club has served the Washington DC area with premier clay court facilities and services for players of all levels. With 12 meticulously maintained courts and 7 courts inside of two winter bubbles from October through April, Potomac Tennis is truly a year-round facility.
John McDaniel, Director of Tennis
John has enjoyed teaching at The Potomac Tennis & Fitness Club for the past thirty years. During this
time he has had the opportunity to instruct players at all levels including several nationally ranked
juniors. Prior to coming to PTFC, John trained and taught at the renowned VanderMeer Tennis Center
in Hilton Head Is., South Carolina.'
When not on the court, John enjoys traveling, playing golf both competitively and as a recreational
sport and playing

Elan Mizrahi, Teaching Professional
Elan has 30 years experience teaching tennis at all levels. He has worked with several top ranked juniors and taught at the Chris Evert Tennis Academy in Florida. He currently provides privates lessons and teaches the Junior and Adult programs at the club.
Elan is USPTR and USPTA Certified.
Mathew Russell
Matt comes to us from Columbia Country Club and has been a teaching professional for the last 10 years. He played #1 singles and doubles at Mercer College before transferring to the University of Maryland. By applying his playing background to those he teaches, Matt has guided a number of junior teams to a national level as well as several USTA adult doubles teams. He currently directs the junior program here at PTFC.

Catlin Crawbuck
Caitlin comes to Potomac Tennis & Fitness Club with seven years teaching experience and a lengthy
tennis background. As a junior in high school she played multiple tournaments and was ranked #1 in
the NJ District Girls' 18 Division. She then went on to play Division I tennis at Rider University
where she received first team All-MAAC honors and was the first Rider tennis player ever named to
the All-MAAC team. Caitlin enjoys teaching all levels ranging from young children to adults alike.
She assists with the junior programs and evening adult programs here at the club and is currently
available for private lessons.
Raul Molina
Raúl has been teaching professional tennis for more than 20 years. He has been captain
of the National Junior Tennis Team in his home country of El Salvador. Raul was also
captain of the El Salvadorian Fed Cup for four years and represented his country playing
in ITF tournaments. In the United States he has worked at the ITF training center in Fort
Lauderdale, the ClubMed Tennis Academy in Florida and here in the DC area at
Georgetown Prep. While working there for the last nine years, he lead adult clinics,
advanced junior programs and taught private lessons. Raul enjoys helping players of all
levels improve their game.
Raúl is USPTR and ITF level I and II certified.
Alison Tompkins
Alison is a former Collegiate tennis player playing at the University of Richmond – 1983 NCAA
Champions. Alison started playing tennis at age 6 and as soon as she was old enough began
teaching both junior and adult levels as an assistant at Dellwood Country Club located in New City,
New York.
Alison is a current USTA tournament player playing for various 4.5 Northern Virginia teams and was a
Women's Nationals 4.5 Final Four player in 2008.
“I enjoy teaching tennis because I believe tennis is a lifelong social sport with no age limit. My dad and
first instructor, is 87 and still loves to play. I am passionate about tennis specifically because of the joy
it can bring to an individual and family.
A scholarship recipient, Alison holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the
University of Richmond, VA. with an emphasis on Marketing. She is a former Commissioned Officer in
the U.S. Army Reserves and spent eight years serving her country. In addition to her insatiable
passion for tennis, Alison’s many other interests include Staging Residential Properties for sale, golf,
swing dance, photography, & travel.
Alison is a member of the USTA, GWTA and PTR certified.
Justin Reid
Justin has extensive involvement in competitive sports; including participation, administration and
teaching. He was an All District Champion in High School in Singles and Doubles in Newport News
VA with a top 20 MATA ranking in juniors. He played competitive Division I Tennis at North Carolina
A&T State University and was 1 or 2 singles/doubles all 4 years. Justin has a deep knowledge of stroke
development, conditioning, sportsmanship, strategy and goal setting and enjoys using these five key
elements as he works with his students. He works with all age groups and skill levels including
beginners, individuals with moderate ability and competitive players.
Justin is USPTA certified.
Nitin Deodhar, Teaching Professional
Playing since he was very young, Nitin became a top 10 player in the Mid Atlantic area as a junior, a
nationally ranked junior player, and earned a scholarship at Division 1 Towson University. His
teaching background includes being a former Junior Tennis Director at Bullis Tennis Training Center
and former Head Professional at Bethesda Country Club. He currently assists in the PTFC junior
program throughout the indoor season and works privately with nationally and sectionally ranked
juniors.
Outside of tennis Nitin enjoys reading, playing golf and, along with his wife, raising his to young sons.
Nitin is USPTA Certified
Paul Neal
Paul has been stringing rackets for 32 years, the last three at The Potomac Tennis & Fitness Club. After earning his degree from Howard University, Paul accepted a position in its cancer research program. With six years of experience in the field, he decided to pursue other interests…tennis. Paul is a Certified Racket Technician with U.S. Racket Stringers Association.
Paul is both USRSA-CRT and USPTR Certified
